CHINA: Uyghur Woman Missing - ONLINE ACTION

Amnesty International, Australia, August 30, 2019.

Guligeina was worried about her parents. She hadn’t been able to contact them since her last visit home in February 2017. So she did what any daughter would do. She left her studies in Malaysia and made the journey back to Yili, in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, to find them.
Now, Guligeina is missing. Family and friends fear that she has been detained at a political 're-education' camp as part of a crackdown on Uyghur minorities and is at risk of torture.

COLOMBIA: Human Rights Defender in Danger - ONLINE ACTION

Amnesty International Australia, August 21, 2019.

Picture this: unknown men have been following you everywhere you go for months. You report it to the police, but they ignore you.
Just imagining it is enough to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. For rights defender Danelly EstupiƱan it’s very real. She’s being followed wherever she goes, and she’s heard that people have paid to have her murdered.

So far the authorities have ignored Danelly’s fears, but if we speak up together, we can get them to act and ensure she’s safe.

TEXAS: Stop Execution - ONLINE ACTION

Amnesty International, UK, Aug 14, 2019.

Texas is set to execute Larry Swearingen on 21 August—just over one week.
He’s been behind bars in Texas for nearly two decades. Larry has always maintained his innocence, and several forensic experts support his innocence too.
We don’t have much time. Please send a message now to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, urging they call off Larry’s execution.

Larry was convicted only on circumstantial evidence in connection with the murder of a young woman. DNA testing of evidence has failed to find any traces of Larry’s DNA.
Larry’s legal representation was dismal, and lead to his execution being called off in 2009... and again in 2011.

Now, without conclusive evidence, his execution date is set again for 21 August.

HONDURAS: Land Defenders Still at Risk - ONLINE LETTER

Amnesty International, Canada, July 22, 2019.

On July 16, Rosalina had spoken out to denounce a vicious attack on her community and the destruction of food crops vital to their survival.

Rosalina and the Lenca community of RĆo Blanco are a target because of their relentless efforts to defend their human rights, even when that puts them on a collision course with powerful people who want to exploit the land and water on which the community depends.

The situation is extremely dangerous. Rosalina and her community have appealed for our support.
