Amnesty International, Australia, August 28, 2018.
Right now, the Australian Government is keeping 117 children and their families locked up on Nauru in cruel and unsafe conditions against the advice of medical experts. Some of these children have been born in detention and all they have ever known is a life of guards, steel fences, and uncertainty.
Children grow up healthy when they are free to play, learn and feel safe with their families in the community.
The Australian Government is choosing to keep these children in unsafe conditions without access to adequate health, education or employment options. They can choose to end the harm and bring them to Australia.
We know with enough pressure we can change this.
