Guligeina was worried about her parents. She hadn’t been able to contact them since her last visit home in February 2017. So she did what any daughter would do. She left her studies in Malaysia and made the journey back to Yili, in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, to find them.
Now, Guligeina is missing. Family and friends fear that she has been detained at a political 're-education' camp as part of a crackdown on Uyghur minorities and is at risk of torture.
