The conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023, has become the world's largest humanitarian crisis, with over 12 million displaced and tens of thousands killed. El Fasher, once home to 1.5 million people, is now at the center of a humanitarian emergency. On 26 October, the RSF claimed that it had taken control of parts of El Fasher, the last major city in Darfur under SAF control. Why This Matters: El Fasher has endured an 18-month siege by the RSF. Over 260,000 civilians are trapped, including many who were already displaced by earlier conflicts. Please CALL your two Senators and your Representative and ASK THEM TO: Demand an immediate end to RSF attacks ON civilians and civilian infrastructure. Use all available tools to push RSF to provide humanitarian access to the city and for to protect civilians in Sudan, including by allowing safe passage for civilians trying to flee the violence.

• URGENT ACTION: Call on Israel to free Palestinian pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya.  Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the arbitrarily to detained pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the occupied Gaza Strip, and several other healthcare workers arbitrarily detained by Israel were not among the detainees released recently as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas--even though Dr. Hussam’s name was added to the list approved by the Israeli cabinet. Dr. Hussam has been the most prominent voice of Gaza’s decimated healthcare sector.  Now, more than ever, we need to intensify our efforts, amplify our calls, and escalate pressure for his release.

Leqaa has experienced repeated violations of her religious rights in detention. She has lost approximately 175 family members during Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. She, just like everyone else, has the human rights to freedom of expression and peaceful protest. Urge Secretary Noem to free Leqaa Kordia!

Rights Denied: Mapping the Suppression of Protesters By Boroumand Center for Human Rights

“Since 1979, Iran has killed men, women and children simply because they took their grievances to the public. Some are well-known, but most are not,” said Roya Boroumand, ABC’s Executive Director. “It is our responsibility to ensure that they are known and remembered.”

On the third anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom protest where at least 382 protesters were killed, ABC has launched an interactive map of protest victims, documenting individuals killed for demanding their rights for over four decades. The map exposes the scale and persistence of the state’s deadly response to dissent.

 Three years after the nationwide Woman, Life, Freedoms protests, the Iranian authorities’ violent suppression of dissent continues. To mark this anniversary, the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran (ABC) has launched an interactive map of protest victims, documenting decades of extrajudicial and arbitrary killings and executions of those who took to the streets to demand their rights. ABC has documented at least 1,566 such executions and is launching the map with 720 cases added so far. View the interactive Map:
