USA Stop Life Without Parol Sentences for Kids. No Deadline - Take Action ASAP

Kids should have a second chance at life. The U.S. is the only country in the world where a child can be sentenced to life in prison without parole. The Supreme Court has already ruled that sentencing children to a lifetime in jail is unconstitutional cruel and unusual punishment, but they left a huge loophole allowing the practice to continue. What's worse is that the practice is not rare — 44 states allow it. And more than 2,500 inmates who were sentenced as children will spend the rest of their lives in prison. Click here to ask the Attorney General provide policy guidelines for US attorneys to prevent life without parol sentences for children. They should have a second chance in life.

Afghanistan: Protect 10-year Old Rape Survivor, Brishna  from “Honor” Killing Deadline: ASAP

Brishna, a 10-year old girl from Kunduz province in Afghanistan, was raped by a local mullah in May 2014. While she was recovering in the hospital, her family and community members threatened to kill her and “dump her in the river.” Discrimination against women is endemic in Afghanistan, and authorities routinely fail to protect survivors and human rights defenders or to ensure judicial due process. Join us in calling for full protection for Brishna and Dr. Sarwari, effective investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators, and criminalization of “honor” killings. 

Click here to send message to President Ashraf Ghani to urge him to protect Brishna, put an end to discrimination against survivors of sexual violence and repeal Article 398 of the Afghan Penal Code as soon as possible.

Pakistan: Save Asia Bibi from execution Deadline: ASAP

Asia Bibi, a farm labourer and mother-of-five, has been sentenced to death in Pakistan. She allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad during a squabble with her work mates over a glass of water. Kept in almost total isolation since Asia was first arrested in 2009, she now fears for her life. In December 2010, a prominat Islamic cleric offered more than AUD $5000 to anyone who killed her. More recently, religious groups have demanded her execution.
