In Solidarity with women's struggle for freedom

The tragic killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by Iran’s “morality” police has re-sparked nationwide protests. Iran Human Rights: October 20, 2022

A month after the start of nationwide protests in Iran, at least 215 people including 27 children have been killed by security forces and mass arrests made on and off the streets. Calling for the immediate release of all protesters and recognition of the Iranian people’s right to peaceful protest, Iran Human Rights warns about the dire situation of the detainees. Iran Human Rights Director, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam said: “Detainees who are often forcibly disappeared, are at serious risk of torture and death. Urgent action by the international community is crucial at this point.” Reports received by Iran Human Rights confirm that detainees are being subjected to verbal insults and torture and other ill-treatment. Some have been forced to make self-incriminating televised confession under duress and torture. Furthermore, some protesters have been taken to unofficial buildings without any regulations or monitoring. The official detention centres and prisons are filled above capacity without sanitary facilities. Children under 18 years are amongst the detainees.

Amnesty International Organization: October 13, 2022

Amnesty International Iran Team
At least 23 children killed with impunity during brutal crackdown on youthful protests. Iranian security forces’ unlawful killings of at least 23 children shed further light on the authorities’ deadly resolve to crush the widespread, ongoing protests, which were sparked by the death in custody of 22-year-old Mahsa (Zhina) Amini on 16 September and grew into what many in Iran say is a broader uprising against the Islamic Republic establishment, Amnesty International said today.
In a detailed statement, the organization lists the names and circumstances surrounding the killing of 23 children as a result of unlawful force during protests from 20 September to 30 September 2022. The victims included 20 boys aged between 11 and 17; and three girls, two of whom were 16 years old and one 17 years old. Most of the boys were killed by security forces unlawfully firing live ammunition at them. Two boys died after being shot with metal pellets at close range, while three girls and a boy died after fatal beatings by security forces.

Iran Human Rights: Oct. 13, 2022

According to Iran Human Rights, at least 201 people including 23 children, have been killed since the nationwide protests began a month ago. Additionally, many school children have been arrested with the Education Minister stating that the detainees were sent to “psychiatric centres” to be “corrected” and will be returned to school once they have been “corrected.” Recalling the inherent human right to protest, especially children and adolescents, Iran Human Rights calls on UN mechanisms for the right of children and all Member States to pressure the Islamic Republic to immediately release all the detained children and start international proceedings against the perpetrators of their murder.

Iran Protests Continues: October 8, 2022

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO): At least 185 people, including at least 19 children, have been killed in the nationwide protests across Iran. The highest number of killings occurred in Sistan and Baluchistan province with half the recorded number. Iran Human Rights condemns the killing of protesters in the strongest possible terms once again, particularly the killings in Zahedan which it considers to amount to crimes against humanity. Speaking at a Human Rights Council side event on October 5, IHRNGO Director, Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam called for those responsible for the atrocities including the Islamic Republic leaders and the forces under theircommand, to be held accountable and prosecuted through establishment of an independent international mechanism under the supervision of the United Nations.
