Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories: Khalida Jarrar bail ordered and then denied - URGENT ACTION

Amnesty International
On 21 May a military judge ordered Khalida Jarrar’s release on bail of 20,000 shekels (US$5,160) in cash and a guarantee from a third party for the same amount. He ruled that the military prosecution had provided insufficient evidence that she would be a security risk if released and that the prosecution’s evidence was out of date, some of it dating back to 2011. The prosecution appealed, and on 28 May a different military judge upheld this appeal, thereby reversing the ruling to release her on bail. He based his decision on secret evidence supplied by the prosecution.

Syria: Activists in Unknown Locations, Risk Torture - URGENT ACTION

Amnesty International
"Hani al-Zitani, Hussein Gharir and Mazen Darwish worked documenting human rights violations in Syria, at the Syrian Centre for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM). They were detained by members of Syrian Air Force Intelligence during a raid on their office in Damascus on 16 February 2012. They were held incommunicado – hidden from their families and friends – in various security branches where, according to released detainees, they were tortured and otherwise ill-treated. In late November 2012 they were transferred to ‘Adra Prison, where they were allowed access to their lawyers and families. They are awaiting the verdict of their trial before the Anti-Terrorism Court, where they have been charged with “promoting acts of terrorism” as a result of their work. They are prisoners of conscience."

Uzbekistan: Stop Torture - ONLINE PETITION and VIDEO #StopTorture

Amnesty International USA
"He doesn't talk at all about [the torture]... He says it was so difficult to endure that the only thing he asked of God was to let him die."
- Nina Lonskaya, wife of imprisoned journalist Muhammad Bekzhanov

Muhammad Bekzhanov is one of the world's longest-imprisoned journalists. Sixteen years ago, Muhammad was editor-in-chief for the newspaper representing the political party Erk — a banned opposition party in Uzbekistan. Following a series of bomb explosions in Uzbekistan, which the Erk party was accused of conspiring on, Muhammad was forcibly taken into custody.

Iran: Budding Grief, Documentary - VIDEO (5 min Trailer)

Our Documentary

During the Summer of 1988, a couple of thousands of political prisoners who were the dissidents of the Islamic Regime were hanged in Iran. Those who were in prisons were already sentenced in court but they had to participate in the 2-3 minutes re-trials and without knowing exactly what was going on, were convicted and executed secretly.
PanteA Bahrami (Director) was in prison after the revolution for four years (1981-1985) and has witnessed the situation of Iran's prisons first hand herself. She tried to track down the survivors of that massacre and interviewed them in the course of 7 years.
This documentary is a result of 7 years work and right now is in the final stages. We need your support for some parts of the animation and editing.

We hope that by documenting this painful piece of history, this injustice would never happen again.

Australia: Stand with Indigenous kids in Australia - ONLINE PETITION

Amnesty International Australia

"But our government is separating Indigenous kids from their communities. Kids as young as 10 are being locked up, all across Australia; threatening our future as a fair and harmonious community.
If you're an Indigenous kid, you are 26 times more likely to be locked up than your non-Indigenous classmates. But Indigenous people have the solutions -- community-led programs that support kids so they don't get into trouble, and if they do, help them address the reasons why. Now we need our government to support these solutions too. Can you stand up for Indigenous kids in Australia today?"
