"The House of Representatives passed a bill banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy on Wednesday. The measure passed mostly on a party line vote, 242-184, with one member voting present. This revised bill removes any
mandatory reporting requirement for sexual assault. It also includes a
new provision requiring rape victims [whether or not the victims request or not] receive medical attention and
counseling 48 hours before they can obtain abortion services." Underage victims of rape and incest would be required to report the crime.
The bill goes to the Senate and, if it passes, it will go to the President's desk where it is unlikely to be signed into law.
