Celia Ismalej and her one and a half year old child, Jhordan, fled
Guatemala and have been in immigration detention for more than 7 months.
They are currently held at Karnes County Residential Center in Texas. Celia is seeking protection for herself and her young child from persecution in Guatemala due to her Indigenous culture and religion. They are suffering physically and emotionally due to their continued detention. Authorities have discretion to release Celia and Jhordan, but refuse to do so. Demand that local authorities release them, as their continued detention violates international law.
