UN
High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein urges all
sides involved in the fighting in Ukraine to “halt indiscriminate
shelling and other hostilities” as the UN Human Rights office reveals
that the number of people killed in Eastern Ukraine has now passed the
6,000 mark since April 2014.
The latest monitoring report, released on Monday, paints a picture of “merciless devastation of civilian lives and infrastructure” Zeid said. The security and human rights situation in the east “dramatically deteriorated” in January and early February 2015, the report states.
