In honor of all those affected by sexual violence, WCASA invites you to “Celebrate Peace, Prevention and Healing” on Saturday, September 26 at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, 7-10 p.m. While commemorating WCASA’s 30-year anniversary of supporting survivors of sexual assault, this event will feature several unveilings and a very special speaker, Loretta Ross.
Attendees will also enjoy live jazz by Gerri DiMaggio and Friends, networking, two complimentary drinks, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts, and a silent auction of art by Wisconsin artists.
At this milestone celebration, WCASA will launch its new logo, new website, and new initiative to champion the leadership of women of color in the anti-sexual violence movement in Wisconsin. WCASA is proud to partner with the national Women of Color Network on this initiative, which will advance WCASA’s current work of addressing sexual violence and oppression.
WCASA is honored to have Loretta Ross deliver the keynote address. Ross is a renowned leader of women of color in the Reproductive Justice Movement and a nationally recognized expert on human rights, violence against women, and racism. Among her many leadership positions, Ross was co-founder and national coordinator of the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective from 2005 to 2012. Her work focuses on how the intersectionality of social justice issues affects social change and service delivery in all movements.
