Dear FAmnesty of the Midwest:

On behalf of the Midwest Regional Office, it is our sincere pleasure to cordially invite you to the 2015Midwest Regional Conference, being held October 23-25, in Bloomington, Minnesota, just outside of Minneapolis. This year’s conference carries the theme of “Moment to Movement,” examining how local initiatives become global movements and calls to action. We are ecstatic to celebrate our human rights movement with you all and shine the light of Amnesty International on both human rights victories and challenges around the region, the country and the world.
Each year, members and activists from the thirteen states of the Midwest Region come together at our Regional Conference to learn and discuss current issues, network with like-minded individuals, gain new momentum and expand activism to another level. Through interactive programs and workshops, exceptional speakers and engaging exhibits, the Regional Conference will facilitate discussions surrounding existing human rights abuses and motivate us to take action. As activists, we will be challenged to expand social awareness and initiate change within our own communities.  This will only happen with you – we need you there!
Our 2015 Regional Conference will feature conversations ranging from local activism efforts to global movements, domestic issues and international campaigns, as well as where the future of Amnesty International lies. Participants can also choose from a large variety of workshops designed to build skills to develop and grow our student and local groups and learn more about issues like Anti-Oppression, Women’s Rights, Lethal Force, Surveillance and much more. We plan to be engaged in discussion, but also engage the Minneapolis community in “Amnesty actions” to show them who we are and what we stand for, in hopes of growing our community with those passionate about human rights.
