AI Group #139 Weekly Update - October 9, 2015

 Greetings Everyone!
This week we welcome the official "GOOD NEWS" from Amnesty International. Ta Phong Tan was released in Vietnam, indefinite execution stays for Richard Glossip, Benjamin Cole, and John Grant were granted in the U.S., and Ecuador's government has abandoned its  process to close an NGO.   There is still so much more work to be done.
Our ONLINE PETITIONS this week include appeals to the USA, Malaysia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Amnesty International URGENT ACTION requests include the following countries: Oman, Tajikistan, Bahrain, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Egypt, Vietnam, U.S.A., Guinea, Morocco, North Korea, Syria, Ecuador, and Turkey. This week's Member Links and Petitions range from gun control efforts to pesticide control. Organizational news from Amnesty International and news from Iran and Indonesia are some of our human rights news stories this week.
Thank you, again, to our members who have been submitting stories, petitions, calendar of events, and videos. Your efforts are keeping us all informed. All of our members are encouraged to email their suggestions to Azam, our group leader, at group139@aiusa.org.
     In solidarity,
     -Debbie, Weekly Update Editor
