from STOP THE TRAFFIK
"Somila was 16 when a trafficker took her from her home on an Assam tea plantation. Her family lived
in poverty and the trafficker deceived her with promises of work and a
better life. Instead she was trafficked into domestic work - unable to
leave, abused by her employers and with all of her wages going straight
to the trafficker.
After a 3 year
ordeal Somila was reunited with her father - but many others trafficked
from India's tea plantations never see their loved ones again. Those like
Somila need our protection. And with Anti-Slavery Day coming up on
October 18th, now is the perfect time to take action and help prevent
human trafficking.
