Zeinab Bahraini spent more than a month behind bars in 2010 for supposedly committing “propaganda against the regime.” Prior to her arrest, she worked as a blogger and political activist for the 2009 reformist candidate Moussavi. Following her release, she was banned from blogging.
At the time of her arrest, she was writing her Master’s dissertation for her physics degree from Shiraz University. Zeinab was charged with propaganda against the regime and her case was sent to Branch 10 of the Revolutionary Court. She was previously a youth campaign manager for Mir Hossein Moussavi, a pro-reform candidate in Fars province, during the disputed 2009 presidential election.
