Dear Amnesty Supporter,
Without
your support, Ghina Ahmad Wadi, Omid Kokabee and Islam Khalil might still be in
dire straits.
You
helped make these extraordinary successes possible.
Thank
you.
- Ghina Ahmad Wadi is a 10-year-old girl who was seriously wounded by sniper fire at a Syrian government checkpoint. Following pressure from Amnesty’s Urgent Action Network, she was successfully evacuated from Damascus to receive the urgent surgery she needed and she is recovering well.
- Omid Kokabee is an Iranian physicist who was conducting doctoral research at the University of Texas in Austin. He was arrested at the airport in Tehran in January 2011, while attempting to return to the U.S. after a family visit. He was sentenced to ten years in prison for “communicating with a hostile government.” Amnesty has campaigned on his behalf for years. Omid had been released on medical furlough and has been granted conditional release, meaning he will not be returning to prison.
- In May 2015, Islam Khalil was arrested by Egyptian authorities, tortured and disappeared. The 27-year-old survivor was released by Egyptian authorities last month after Amnesty’s Urgent Action Network relentlessly campaigned on his behalf.
The
support you give Amnesty truly makes a difference.
Thank
you.
Sincerely,
Zeke
