Mexico: Ángel Colón: Tortured and jailed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time - ONLINE PETITION Deadline: October 23, 2014

Ángel Colón is an engineer, human rights activist and active member of the Garifuna Afro-descendent community in Honduras. On March 9, 2009, Ángel reached Tijuana, Mexico—along the US border. He waited in the house of the person who was going to smuggle him across the border. Mexican police raided the house looking for drugs and arrested Ángel. Amnesty International has adopted Angel as a prisoner of conscience and believes he should be set free from unjust detention. The Attorney General’s Office is investigating and a decision is expected around October 23rd whether to convict or acquit Ángel. Call on Mexico’s Attorney General to drop all charges against Ángel and immediately release him.
