You and Amnesty won many human rights victories in 2014. To name a few:
- FREED - Eight months ago, 27-year-old Sudanese mother Meriam Yeyha Ibrahim had been sentenced to death by hanging for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. Today she is free and living safely with her family.
- REPEALED - We helped close a "rape loophole" in a Moroccan law that allowed rapists to avoid prosecution by marrying the person they raped, if she was a minor.
- FREED - Chinese authorities released Tibetan filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen after he served a six-year prison sentence for "inciting splittism" - for making a film about the suffering endured by Tibetans.
- EXPOSED - Our team of crisis investigators risked their lives to expose war crimes - including abductions and other attacks on civilians - committed by the Syrian government, the Islamic State, and other armed groups.
- ADVANCED - Through the mobilization of Amnesty activists by countless phone calls, online actions and meetings with Senators and Representatives, we achieved the most bipartisan support the International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) has ever had, increasing its chances for future passage. IVAWA makes ending violence against women and girls worldwide a top U.S. priority.
- DISPATCHED - In response to protests that followed the police shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Amnesty International dispatched human rights observers to monitor policing.
