UW-Madison Event: Thursday 12/11 at 6-7:30pm, Tripp Commons

Come hear Rachel O'Leary, Deputy Executive Director of Amnesty International USA and UW Graduate talk about the protests and movements that have emerged from the recent events in Ferguson. She will be joined by two of the head organizers (Taylor Claiborne and Johnetta Elzie) in Ferguson, MO following the Michael Brown shooting. Topics will include:

- The effectiveness of the Ferguson/Eric Garner protests as leaderless movements
- How these protests have ignited a generation of activists
- How they have resonated with people across the country due to long simmering racial disparities in policing
- The protests and moving forward, with a platform of policy driving activism
- How everyone can support the cause
