From stopping torture to writing on behalf of a jailed human rights
lawyer, YOU can make a difference! This week's Weekly Update has links
to these initiatives and many, many more. Also, don't forget to send in
your 2015 Write for Rights
letters and petitions today. Amnesty will be adding up the names of
supporters. Together we can make a difference in the lives of these men
and women.
Our local Amnesty International group
only makes ONE appeal for financial support a year. For those looking to
make a tax-deductible contribution before 2016, please consider a gift
to our local group. We are a very small but active nonprofit group of
volunteers and welcome your support. Our main community outreach is
through our website, social media, and this Weekly Update.
Some of our current local projects include: the annual Amnesty
International Write for Rights Campaign, Nowruz cards sent to Prisoners
of Conscience, and partnering with local community groups to advocate
for
human rights. Our expenses generally include: copying & mailing
costs, tabling
fees, membership in Amnesty International, and speaker expenses. For
