Greetings Everyone!
-Debbie, Weekly Update Editor
Happy Human Rights Day greetings flooded social media all day
yesterday. Messages were posted from Australia, United Kingdom, USA
Mid-Atlantic, Canada, Amnesty International, United Nations, World
Health Organization, Toronto, Tasmania, USA Mid-West, Philippines, and
many, many more countries and organizaions. Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10th. It
commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General
Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In 1950, the Assembly passed resolution 423 (V), inviting all States
and interested organizations to observe the 10th of December of each year as
Human Rights Day.
Here is just one of the many video's commemorating Human Rights Day 2015. "Thank you! You have truly made a difference" (from Amnesty International Australia).
Each week we have been highlighting two cases from this year's Write for Rights Campaign. Check out the last of the 12 cases for 2015 in this Weekly Update. To view information from each of the 12 cases, click here. This campaign runs from December 4 to December 18. Send those letters or sign those online petitions today!

Also check out our Weekly Member "Other" Links and Petitions post which
includes items submitted by our members but may not be directly related
to human rights. These links and petitions also comply with our
guidelines to (1) not support a particular political party (or
candidate) and (2) not to raise funds for an organization. Many of this week's
"Other" links and petitions include information about gun violence.
Thank you, members, for your submissions.
Finally, thank YOU for all that YOU do. As Amnesty International Australia says, "You have truly made a difference!"
