Amnesty International USA
Dear Azam,
I’m writing to request your feedback on AIUSA’s Individuals at Risk Program Strategy (attached), by February 22.
How to Give Feedback
You
can email me your feedback or set up a time to speak with me on the
phone with or in person in NYC. Whatever is easiest for you. My email is zjohnson@aiusa.org and my phone number is 212.633.4256.
Sample questions to help inspire your feedback:
- What is AIUSA’s IAR Program doing well? What should be improved?
- What can the IAR Program do specifically to improve our human rights impact?
- Is the IAR Program focusing on the right cases?
- Is the program sufficiently aligned with the goals of the International Secretariat (IS) and AIUSA?
- Should the IAR Program focus on the upcoming global Human Rights Defenders Campaign, to be launched by the IS in January 2017?
- What can the IAR Program do to improve its support of and collaboration with activists, members, local groups, student groups, donors, partners and allies?
- How can the IAR Program improve its support of and collaboration with member leaders, including country and thematic specialists, Area Coordinators, Student Area Coordinators, Legislative Coordinators, Local Group Leaders and Student Group Leaders and Faculty Advisors?
- What materials, tools or trainings should the IAR Program provide?
- How can the IAR program more effectively engage, train and retain students and teachers in casework?
- How can the IAR Program better support AIUSA’s general organizational goals of increasing fundraising, activism, membership, media visibility, social media engagement and influence over governments and other actors?
Purpose of Giving Feedback & Background
- The attached strategy was created through consultation with a wide range of stakeholders and set our Program’s direction from October 2014 to January 2016.
- We now want to update the strategy to cover the next two years, from March 2016 – March 2018. Our intention is to align with AIUSA’s new overall strategy, coming later this spring, and with the IS’ global campaigns, priorities and global IAR strategy.
- Your feedback will help ensure that we are the most effective and efficient program that we can be. It is invaluable for improving our work to help individuals and communities at risk of grave human rights violations around the world.
Thank you!
