Bill Targeting Transgender Students Passes South Dakota Legislature - ONLINE PETITION

Human Rights Campaign

In a disappointing move, a bill targeting transgender youth has passed the South Dakota state legislature and is on its way to the governor's desk. This bill seeks to prevent transgender students in public schools from using facilities that are consistent with their gender identity. The legislation was also amended to require educational institutions to pay the costs of resulting legal challenges. If passed, this legislation would be in direct violation with the U.S. Department of Education and Title IX non-discrimination protections for LGBT youth.
Take action now with HRC by sending a message to South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard to veto this discriminatory anti-transgender bill.
