G'day from Australia!
I've been traveling for business and somehow was able to keep track of
the day and connect with the internet periodically. I apologize if I
have missed any emails for the Weekly Update. Think I've been able to
keep on top of everything. First of all, thank you to our many members
who wore orange or who have changed their social media photos to orange.
National Gun Violence Awareness Day was on the 2nd of June. Landmarks
across the country turned orange including: the Empire State Building,
Niagara Falls, Milwaukee Art Museum, a Minneapolis bridge and the New
Orleans Superdome. Did you change your profile to orange? I did and so
did President Obama!
Often our posts such as Iran: 16-Year Prison Sentence for Narges Mohammadi - URGENT ACTION by July 13, 2016 ,
an Urgent Action from Amnesty International, will include extra links
or information. This particular post also includes a profile of Narges
Mohammadi from a PBS Frontline special. Also posts may include more than one action. For example, we have included the new 2016 Pride Guide.
This Guide includes information about issues, petitions, sample
letters, photo action, etc. Our News posts cite the source and date of
the information. A particularly dramatic News post this week is Saving Young Lives from Execution in Iran which is an article written by Raha Bahreini on the Amnesty International blog on May 31, 2016.
Thank you to all of our contributors.
