Amnesty International USA
Summer
is a time to build community together. It is a time to deepen
relationships, reach out to your community, and to show up for partners
and leaders doing human rights work in your area.
This
summer has started with a stark reminder of why it’s so important to
take care of each other, and of the value of relationships. Over the
past few days, I’ve heard from staff and members throughout the country
who are shocked and saddened by the shooting in Orlando. It is important
to honor the people who were killed and injured – many of whom were
LGBT people and people of color – and stand in solidarity with them and
their families. Please take care of yourselves and each other, be with
your community members who are mourning, and be in touch with staff and
other members about how to respond.
In
putting together the Summer Action Guide, we’re also reminded of the
importance of responding to injustice and horror with action. Click the
Guide for ideas to educate and activate your community this summer.
