Aser Mohamed was a regular 14-year-old school boy in Egypt. He was getting ready to sit his English exam, but never got to it...
On 12 January armed police raided his family home without a warrant, and took him away to a secret location where his family couldn’t reach him. It was here that this boy endured 34 days of horrific torture and inhumane treatment at the hands of the Egyptian secret police.
Aser was accused by authorities of being involved with a banned political group and participating in a hotel attack. Officers used electric shocks and dislocated his shoulder by suspending Aser by his limbs until he confessed to crimes he says he didn’t commit.
Now, cooped up in a tiny cell alongside adults, he could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted next month.
