Dear Friends,
Please join others from around the country to call your Members of Congress today and urge them to support refugee resettlement.
We have a moral obligation to provide shelter to those who are victims of violence and terror. Many are fleeing torture or the threat of torture and simply need a place where they and their families can be safe. Unfortunately, despite there being an international refugee crisis, Members of Congress have not only spoken out against accepting refugees from some of the most troubled parts of the world, but, in the face of a growing need, Congress as a whole is also considering flatlining funding for refugee resettlement. This fall Congress will consider spending bills that will decide how many refugees the U.S. has the capacity to resettle, so contacting your Members now is crucial.
Please call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with your Representative and your Senators. You can say something like:
“I believe that the United States should be a place of refuge for those fleeing violence and oppression. I would like my Members of Congress to support increasing the number of refugees from Syria and other parts of the world who are allowed into the country and to vote to increase funding for refugee resettlement. Thank you.”
Please call today – by calling today your voice will join many others in demonstrating to Congress that the American people support refugees and expect Members of Congress to do the same.
Thank you,
Matt Hawthorne
Policy Director
