The Human Rights of Protestors: Political Conventions & Elections - INFORMATION and TOOLKIT

Amnesty International USA
AIUSA is sending a delegation of human rights observers to monitor compliance with human rights standards in the policing of protests outside of both conventions. The purpose of our delegation is to monitor respect for the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression. We’ve made the decision to send a delegation to both conventions because of human rights violations at protests in the U.S. over the last couple of years. As you know, Amnesty International has a long and rich history monitoring protests and investigating police conduct – including at the Gezi Park protests in Turkey, the Arab Spring protests in Egypt, and protests in the wake of shootings by police officers in the U.S.
