Iran: Proposed Islamic could send Women’s Right back several decades Deadline: Ongoing - EMAIL ACTION

from Amnesty International UK
Laws being proposed in Iran will make women into little more than baby-making machines, and instantly set women’s rights back by decades. Bills that appear before Iran’s parliament next week plan to curb contraceptives and ban sex education in an attempt to increase the country’s population. Ask Iran’s leaders not to pass the Bills. Click here to call on the Iranian authorities to (a) Repeal Bill 446 in its entirety; (b) Reinstate comprehensive funding for family planning policies and programs to ensure that all women can access quality contraceptive goods, services and information; and (c) Overhaul Bill 315 including by withdrawing the provisions that: discriminate against women in the area of employment; act as a barrier to obtaining a divorce, with a discriminatory impact on women; and incentives judges to favour reconciliation over divorce.
